"There are some parts of the world that, once visited, get into your heart and won't go. For me, India is such a place. When I first visited, I was stunned by the richness of the land, by its lush beauty and exotic architecture, by its ability to overload the senses with the pure, concentrated intensity of its colors, smells, tastes, and sounds... I had been seeing the world in black & white and, when brought face-to-face with India, experienced everything re-rendered in brilliant Technicolor."Keith Bellows, National Geographic Society.

March 4, 2013 is going to be a historical date. It will be remembered as a day where the essence of Hindu scriptures is manifested and revealed.  The efforts to bring unity among all Hindusbased on the purity of heart and conduct have succeeded over the age-old rigid baseless argument of caste-based society. Discrimination based on caste has given way to the reason, wisdom, commonsense, understanding, empathy and compassion.

Kadiri town in Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh will be remembered where seeds of caste barriers are sown tosee the crumbling and collapsing of caste system. “Dalits” are welcomed to participate and perform one of the most auspicious Pujas to be done at this place. Kadiri will remembered as a place where the caste system has been cleaved the way Hiranyakashyapa was cleaved byLord Narasimha Swamy.

3000 Dalits will perform Samoohika Satyanarayana Vratha

Pujyasri Paripoornananda Swami, the Peethadhipathi of Sri Peetham, Kakinada; Punya Charitable Trust of Kadiri and Global Hindu Heritage Foundation of USA / SaveTemples jointly organizing the event to promote human dignity, foster harmony among different sections of Hindu community, and recognize the spirit of equanimity, love and equality. Dr. Ghazal Srinivas who is a Brand Ambassador of GHHF and Coordinator of SaveTemples Office is Hyderabad will participate in the event.

Sri Paripoornananda Saraswati in his recent discourse categorically stated that changing one’s religion amounts to annihilation of one’s past. He also emphasized the need for broad-mindedness, social awareness apart from inculcating human values. He said that every individual has to realize the principle of God as all-pervasive Brahman. He lamented that some religions took advantage of the suffering of the people and trying to give solace through religion. Many of you may remember that Swami Paripoornananda and Global Hindu Heritage Foundations Brand Ambassador Dr. Ghazal Srinivas arranged a special darshan of Lord Venkateswara for reconverted Hindu Dalits in September 2012. He also started Ratha Yatra to awaken the Hindus about the need to bring all sections of Hindus into mother’s lap and also to end discrimination based on caste.Let us examine what Bhagavad Gits says about the varna system: "I am the Self seated in the heart of all creatures. I am the beginning, the middle and the very end of all beings".  All beings have, therefore to be treated alike." (10:20).  Again Lord Krishna says, “I look upon all creatures equally; none are less dear to me and none more dear. But those who worship me with love live in me, and I come to life in them”(9:29).

Pursuant to the philosophy of nondiscrimination, ‘Dalits’ in the nearby villages are invited to perform Satyanarayana Vratha personally in the premise of Lord Lakshmi Narayana Temple in Kadiri. Why Sri Satyanarayana Puja?

Lord SatyanarayanaPuja was narrated by Lord Vishnu himself as a solution to the multitude of problems the people are facing on the earth. Typically Satyanarayana Puja is to be performed for the fulfillment of our desires. One can perform the puja for success in education, success in employment and promotion, to buy vehicle, to purchase houses or land, to start a business, and negotiate a deal with others. It is also done for removal of economic hardships, for improvement of health, for well being of the family, to get blessings to have child, and to get a better spouse. It is also done to prevent impending dangers and create positive climate to achieve success in their efforts. It is also done on a regular basis even without having any desires. For peace of mind and happiness it is also done. It can be done either on given auspicious day or any other day. It is also done after the fulfillment of the ones desires.

Lord Satyanarayana Puja is followed by reciting or reading a story. Usually there are five chapters detailing the procedure to conduct the puja, the benefits of performing the puja and the people benefitted by doing it. It is interesting the note that this puja was performed by a poor Brahmin, a Vysya, a cowherd and a King. It shows that here is no discrimination as to who can do this puja. Any body irrespective of caste can reap the benefits of performing the puja.

It is also timely to remember the meaning and essence of the name of Satyanarayana itself. ‘Satya’ means ‘Truth’,  ‘nara’ mean ‘human being’ and ‘ayana’ means ‘place.’ It means the truth resides in a place where this puja is performed by any person.

Fruits of Doing Satyanarayana Puja

It is believed that the Brahmin took birth as Sudama and served Lord Krishna and attained moksha.

- King Ulkamukha took birth as King Dasharatha, and became the father of Lard Rama and attained eternity.

- The merchant took birth as King Morad who cut his son in half and offered to the Lord and attained moksha.

- King Angadhwaja took birth as Kewat, who took Lord Rama across the river, served him and got moksha.

Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple – Kadiri

The famous Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is located in Kadiri in Anantapur District attracts large numbers of Hindu pilgrims throughout the year. Lord Narasimha, the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, in this Temple is believed to be Swayambhu - emerging from the roots of Maddi (khadri) tree.
The Moola Virat in the Temple is called Ashta Bahu Narasimha (having eight hands) cleaving Hiranyakasipu and appear in Prasanna (pleasing, serene, gracious)posture with Prahlada standing beside him with folded hands. The most amazing thing about this Deity is that after Abhishekam is done and wipe out the wetness of the Lord, sweat oozes out even after repeated wipes by the priests.
It is believed that devotees who offer prayers here get relieved of their sorrows, sufferings and sins.

Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji composed Suprabhatam

Sri Swamiji, the pontiff of Avadhuta Datta Peetham, Mysore, composed Suprabhatam recognizing the significance of the Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. It is rendered by Sri Rajkumar Bharati and Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji. This Suprabhata is played daily at the Temple in the early morning hours to wake up the Lord. The CD entitled Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Suprabhata can be listened by downloading the CD from the iTunes.
