When giving – give generously without stinginess, give abundantly (as much as you can), give with humility, (without publishing your act), give with empathy, with mindfulness. (Taittiriay Upanishad)
Global Hindu Heritage Foundation in Assam has been distributing cooked foods, medicines, mosquito coils, dry foods, baby foods to cyclone and flood affected peoples of Assam.
The floods following the heavy rains in the aftermath of Cyclone Remal affected over 600,000 people and killed 18, in India’s Northern State of Assam.
The floods have hit 10 districts --Hojai, Karimganj, Morigaon, Nagaon, Dima-Hasao, Cachar, Dibrugarh, Hailakandi, Golaghat and Karbi Anglong West-- as the situation remains grim, Xinhua reported.
Scorching heat waves hit several parts of the country while Assam saw devastating floods triggered by Cyclone Ramel.
GHHF Assam started Seva activities for the affected people of Assam. For the last seven days we served biscuits, dry foods, mosquito coils, water bottles, milk, baby foods , khichdi etc. to more than 5000 people's took shelter in various places in Assam.
"In Assam, the flood situation remains grim as 625,318 people are reeling under the deluge across 10 districts," an official said. "Four people have lost their lives in the past 24 hours and the number of deaths caused by the floods has so far reached to 18."
Officials said at present 577 villages are inundated and about 6,023 hectares of crop area have been damaged across the affected districts.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the local government has opened 191 relief camps and 108 distribution centers in the affected areas.
Swami Vivekananda, coined a famous expression to capture this idea, by saying:  "Work [in the service of others] is worship!" According to Swami Vivekananda, service to relieve the suffering of others, without any regard for one's own discomfort, and with no selfish motive of fame or gain, is one of the paths to God: the karma yoga, or path of good works, described  in the Bhagavad Gita as "detachment from the fruits of action."
