Filippo Sassetti, an Italian traveler and merchant in India from 1578 to 1588, observation:
“They (Xavier’s Catholic Church fathers) destroyed Hindu temples and harassed the people so much that they left the city in large numbers, refusing to live in a place where they were imprisoned, tortured, and killed for worshipping their fathers’ gods.”
The Global Hindu Heritage Foundation (GHHF) celebrated International Yoga Day at Adikesava Perumal Temple in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, on Thursday, June 29. 70 students from four tuition batches celebrated this historic occasion. The celebration included yoga asanas, enlightening lessons on yoga's history and value, traditional games and dances, Gayatri Mantra recitation, temple cleaning, and school supply distribution.

The children's temple celebrations began with excitement. A colorful GHHF banner was carefully tied to create the tone for the occasion. The kids practice yoga asanas (poses) with senior student instructors (selected based on their performance in regular classes) for two hours. It was amazing to see the Immense flexibility of the students. Asanas promote flexibility, strength, and body awareness, connecting mind, body, and soul. After an energetic asana session, the kids learned about yoga's history and importance. They learned about yoga's ancient Indian roots and modern significance. They learned about the mental and physical benefits effects of yoga. Also discussed how health, relationships, and well-being will improve. After yoga, the kids played generations-old games. The games brought laughter, collaboration, sportsmanship, and companionship. The kids then performed as-hoc traditional dances for fun and frolic.
To enhance the celebrations' spirituality, children learned the Gayatri Mantra of ancient Hindu scriptures from the teachers. They reverently studied the sacred chant. The children also cleaned the temple. They are taught about the importance of  responsibility and regard for sacred sites. With Yoga and selfless seva, the appreciated the importance of  hygiene and cultural heritage preservation with their enthusiasm. Finally, before leaving for their homes, each student received a 100-page notebook, pen, and pencil for use in the daily Bala Samskar class. This visit to the Temple and practice of Yoga had a great impact on kids who mostly come from very humble households and cannot afford a lot even for education. School supplies distribution showed GHHF’s dedication to student progress and academic success.
