“Hindus are the exemplary role model for ‘how not to exclude others? Where else have religious minorities flourished and grown like in India? Is not the relative harmony in this amazing diversity in India generally admired abroad? Media persons need only to look around in the world to realize this fact.” Maria Wirth
A King known as Matsyavallabha, who is reigning Devarakonda fort, found a Ulcer on his back. How many treatments the doctors at the hospital have done, how many medicines have they used, it is not getting cured.
Due to the pain of that ulcer, Matsyavallabha lost his peace of mind. Realizing the inability to get the needed cure, the the king spread the news in other kingdoms also.
Maharaja of Devarakonda announced that any doctor who ever cures Matsyavallabha’s ulcers, he will give his daughter for marriage and give half of his kingdom.
With this announcement, doctors from all over the world came to Devarakonda and tried to treat Matsyavallabha. Various types of herbal medicines are used. Still, it was not possible for anyone to cure the disease.  Finally, a young man named Srimukha from Vijayapuri cures Matsyavallabha’s pain by applying the Sanjivani leaves collected in Nallamala forest. The Maharaja regained full health. As announced, Maharaja of Devarakonda set out to marry his young daughter and make him the king of the kingdom of Devarakonda.
But Srimukha rejected it. “Maharaja! The medicine I learned from my uncle was useful in making me a king. He is very happy with that. I did not seek treatment expecting any reward. I live happily doing agriculture. I do not accept any rewards or recognition.
“Srimukha your attitude surprises me a lot. Many kings fight for beautiful women for wealth. They sacrifice horses, birds, and blood for their soldiers. Without such ordeals, if a beautiful young lady had become your wife, I would not have rejected the opportunity of ruling the kingdom. Isn't this against the world? I wonder why you are taking this opportunity, said Matsyavallabha.
“Maharaja! You said that for the sake of the kingdom, for the sake of beautiful maidens, kings shed their blood, why should I marry somebody from the families of such kings? When you, with your generous wisdom, give me the kingdom of wealth, do you think that your sons and your relatives will keep quiet?  Moreover, by marrying a common man like me, will this lady feel satisfied till the end of her life?
Ruling kingdom is like walking on a sharp sword.  You will know when the neighboring kings will come to attack you. We do not know when your ministers will conspire with brother in laws, nephews and others would backstab me and kill.
Lord, I don't want such a political life! I am a son of the land who believes in the land. “I like to live peacefully,” said Srimukha.
Matsyavallabha respects the opinion of Srimukha and sends him back to his village, Vijayapuri, with valuable gifts.
