Global Hindu Heritage Foundation started with a mission to preserve, protect and promote the richness of Sanatana Dharma. To accomplish this goal, we felt that it is the utmost of the hour to teach about our culture, traditions, mantras, rituals, morals, and our national heroes. This week, our teachers talked about how a greedy person realized his mistake and spent his life in harmony with everyone.
Greed is the root of sorrow
A businessman named Govindaiah was very greedy. An intoxicated person who wants to gain from the other person by making the other person uncomfortable in any bargaining. One day he was going to Patna through the forest path. There is no one with him. If you see him, you will see him as a merchant, a friend, and a hustler. A sage with a mutilated body was lying near a tree while walking in the forest path. When he heard him saying 'thirsty...thirsty', Govindaiah went and poured fresh water into Munishwar mouth. Muni opened his eyes and said, "You quenched my thirst in the last hours. Your goodness will not be forgotten. This is the last minute for me. Death will approach me in a minute. Ask for any boon immediately... I can grant it."
Govindaiah greedily said, "Munishwar! I don't want one boon. At least give me three boons, Swami." Munishwar's eyes were already closed. Even though his strength was running low, Munishwar said, "I can't do that! Ask for any boon! Don't delay." Govindaiah entered the business model. The desire to wish for at least two boons. His hope made him a believer. Immediately he said "OK, please give me at least two blessings, Swami" unhappily. Immediately Munishwar said "That is not possible Nayana! I can give you only one boon. Don't delay and ask for it immediately." He was already trying to take his last breath after listening to sage's words. His greed became his curse. He looked at Munishwar, wondering what he wanted. The life of that Munishwar had already merged into eternal air. He thought that his ambition had become his curse. It would have been better if he had wished for even one good boon, but with sad face that the luck became curse and unfulfilled. Realizing that his greed is the source of misery, he spent time in harmony with everyone from then on.
