Our ancient Rishis (sages) cultivated poetry to such an extent that every work, whether on philosophy or any other subject, came to be written in verse. Thousands of couplets embodying in them choicest thoughts on various subjects are used in learned conversation, and a man is not considered as learned unless he is able to repeat some celebrated saying. A collection of such sayings handed over to us by generations of Scholars is known as 'Subhashitas.'

Shlokas are Sanskrit verses, proverbs, or poems with specific vibes. They are the basis for epic Indian poetry. The Bhagavad Gita was written in the form of Sanskrit Shlokas.

SLOKA 1

amantramakṣaraṃ nāsti nāsti mūlamanauṣadham ।
ayogyaḥ puruṣo nāsti yojakastatra durlabhaḥ ॥

Meaning: There is no sound that is not a mantra, no plant that is not medicinal. There is no person unworthy, what is lacking is an 'enabler'.

This Sloka is likened to a small data chip that contains an enormous amount of information. Would we be able to see this data without being connected to the appropriate computer equipment? Obviously not.

Now let me explain the next part of the saying, “nasty moolam anoushadam,” which means that every plant root can be used as a medicine. Hence, the meaning of the saying is very clear: there is not one “Akshara” that is not a mantra, and there is not one plant root that is not a medicine.

One must understand that although all plant roots can be used as medicine, not everyone will know how to use them. Only an Ayurvedic doctor will actually know how to combine, concentrate, and use these plant roots for medicinal purposes. He will also recommend the appropriate doses for different patients and give them personalized medicine.
