Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh of Dallas invited DFW Community leaders to a Meet and Greet session with Dr. Ratan Sharda and talk about the origins of RSS and its achievements, its future mission to bring unity and harmony in the society.
Ratan Sharda is a distinguished Indian author, columnist, and television panelist, renowned for his deep insights into socio-political issues, particularly those related to the Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). A long-time RSS member, he has authored several acclaimed books, including RSS 360°: Demystifying Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Conflict Resolution: The RSS Way, drawing from his PhD research on the organization. With a background in ERP consultancy and extensive industrial experience, Sharda blends academic rigor with practical expertise. A vocal commentator on national affairs, he frequently appears on major English and Hindi news channels and contributes to various publications, offering a unique insider’s perspective on India’s cultural and political landscape.
RSS is the largest voluntary group in the world with a mission to bring harmony and unity among Hindus and make the citizens aware of their strength and how to improve their self-awareness and self-improvement. RSS was founded by Dr K B Hedgewar who was a fiery patriot who dreamt of freeing India from colonial slavery and work toward bringing Hindus together as Hindu community was facing disunity and divided based on caste, region, language and other issues.
Dr. Ratan Sharda talked about the future of Bharat and the role RSS is going to play in bringing unity by removing the causes of disunity, creating people of strong character selflessly dedicated to the upliftment of society and freedom, being proud of Bharatiya civilization and striving to build a prosperous nation with all-round progress, not limited to material well-being.
As the needs of the society changed, the political climate becoming volatile, Hindu heritage is being attacked, RSS branched out into different organizations to meet the need of Hindus to ensure that their freedom is maintained. It spread to more than 40 counties with 73 Sakhas and expanding every year. With more than 50 lakh volunteers working across the globe to meet the need of Hindus, work tirelessly to meet the challenges of the time, attend to the unexpected crisis, protect the democratic principles and championed the cause of freedom by working to remove Emergency in India.
He also talked about the formation of Vishwa Hindu Parishad in 1964 to propagate that all Hindus are children of Mother Bharat to create brotherhood among all Hindus. In 951, the Bharatiya Janata Party was formed by Dr. Shyam Prasad Mukherjee. Now it has become the largest political party in the country.
As for the future for the next 100 years, RSS will work toward creating social harmony by promoting casteless and harmonious society. Family centered activities will be emphasized to help rear healthy children and healthy husband and wife relations. Preserving climate by changing the habits of people and reducing the use of plastics and promoting the planting of trees and vegetable plants. It will encourage every citizen to follow civic rules, respect the constitution and adhere to the laws of the land.
Following his presentation, many people who attended talked about their views and activities conducted to expose the richness of Hinduism in their respective cities and Bharat. Pankaj Kumar, Kalyan Viswanathan, Vigyan, Satish Koosam, Bhaskar Pabba, Ranna Aradhana, Sanjay, Sanjeev, Rahul, and others. Prakasarao Velagapudi gave concluding remarks by saying that every Hindu should take the ownership of Bharat and protect her. We should consider Hinduism as our additional child in the family and spend equal amounts to protect our rich cultural heritage. He appreciated Dr. Ratan Sharda for his visit to Dallas and his lifelong service to RSS and Bharat.
