[GHHF] Pada Puja to parents was performed to 60 Parents by their respective Bala Samskar children to show their respect, reverence, love and sacrifice
"The strength of Hinduism lies in its infinite adaptability to the infinite diversity of human character and human tendencies. It has its highly spiritual and abstract side suited to the philosopher, its practical to the man of the world, its aesthetic and ceremonial side attuned to the man of the poetic feeling and imagination; and its quiescent contemplative aspect that has its appeal for the man of peace and the lover of seclusion." Sir Monier-Williams (1860-1888)
Global Hindu Heritage Foundations conducts a several program to highlight the importance of rituals, traditions and customs passed on for millennia. Sri Gopi Chary and his associates organized a very grand Pada puja program in Garudapuram village in Kalyandurg Mandal, Andhra Pradesh.
As the children and parents come to the venue, the priests applied tilak on their foreheads, ties Raksha to provide protection. Mantras were chanted for the protection of all the children and their parents. The program started by singing a song. Then the priest conducted Saraswati Puja involving children to get blessings from Devi for good education, intelligence and better skills.
About 60 parents of children participated in this program. All the parents were respectfully seated on the chairs. Students were given turmeric, Kumkum, Gandham, flowers, and Akshatas were given by Vedic scholar Gopi Swami. While chanting the mantra, the children first washed their parents' feet and smeared them with turmeric, Kumkum, sandalwood paste. Parents’ joy cannot be explained. They felt happy to see their children giving so much respect. With heart filled with joy, parents showered bountiful blessing to their children with good education, good health, proper behavior and bright future. Adults who came to witness the events also bless the children with a good education and manners.
Lastly, the Chief Priest Sri Gopi Chary express special thanks to the villagers who came and cooperated in the program. The Pada Puja program was completed successfully with serving prasadam.
About 60 adults, 60 children and a total of 150 people participated in this program.
As per Hindu tradition, we say Matru Devo bhava, Pithru devo bhava, acharya devo bhava and athidi Devo Bhava. Since parents are responsible for our existence on this earth, and since they fulfill all our needs, it is our dharma to respect them. Our scriptures say that worshipping parents is like taking bath in the sacred Ganges. Satya Sai Baba says, “Your blood, food, head and wealth are parents’ gift. Therefore, first you should express your gratitude to your parents.”
