Global Hindu Heritage Foundation of Assam is very happy to inform that like every year this year also Bala Samskar Kendras organized Saraswati Puja on the auspicious occasion of Vasant Panchami.
All Kendras brought Saraswati Murti, priest worshipped Saraswati and after that all the students and their parents offered Anjali with flower on the feet of Saraswati. Students learnt Saraswati mantra. Prasadam distributed amongst villagers and students.
Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, art, music, science and technology is worshipped on Vasant Panchami. The deity symbolizes creative energy and power in all its forms. Moreover, the agricultural cycle plays a significant role during the Vasant Panchami. During the Magha month, the fields are filled with yellow mustard flowers which are associated with the Favorite color of the Goddess Saraswati. For a similar reason, people dress in yellow-colored sarees, shirts and accessories, and prepare yellow-colored snacks and sweets. The most common food prepared during the festival is yellow-colored rice.
Saraswati Puja is a major festival of Hindus which is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge and wisdom as well as music and performing arts. As per the Hindu calendar, Vasant Panchami is observed on the fifth day of the bright half of Magha month. In general, this day usually falls in late January or February. Saraswati Puja is considered as a very auspicious day for starting any new work. Celebrations like Griha Pravesh and wedding ceremonies are carried out on this day. On this day, Goddess of knowledge, Maa Saraswati is also worshiped, and devotees seek Her blessings in the form of wisdom. It is believed that Goddess Saraswati was born on the day of Vasant Panchami itself. This festival also marks the start of preparation for Holika and Holi, which occur forty days later. On the day of Vasant Panchami, Goddess Lakshmi (also known as Shri) and Lord Vishnu are also worshiped. Businessmen usually perform this pooja as it is considered highly beneficial for their business.
