Ratha Saptami is an important festival, celebrated on February 3rd.  It is also called Surya Jayanti. This festival is celebrated on the seventh day of the month of Magha. On this day, Sun God is specially worshipped.
Ratha Saptami Importance:
Ratha Saptami marks the day when Lord Surya is believed to have started enlightening the world, symbolizing the Sun’s journey towards the northern hemisphere. This day is considered the birth anniversary of the Sun God and is also known as Surya Jayanti. The festival signifies the transition from the cold winter months to the vibrant spring season, representing a renewal of life and energy.
● Change in direction of the Sun's chariot: On this day the Sun turned its chariot towards the north. Believe. The sun's journey begins from Dakshinayana to Uttarayana.
● Health Provider: Sun represents health, power. Worshiping the sun on the seventh day of the chariot brings health, wealth and prosperity. Vishnu.
How to celebrate Ratha Saptami:
● Bathing before sunrise: This day before sunrise It is very auspicious to bathe in sacred pools.
● Surya Namaskaralu: Surya Namaskaralu is performed while saluting the Sun.
● Special pujas: Special pujas and prayers are organized for the Sun God.
● Naivedyaalu: Sugar balls, like pots, are offered as sacrificial offerings to the Sun.
● Chariot with sugarcane leaves: In some areas, a chariot shaped like a chariot made of sugarcane leaves is worshiped.
Story behind Ratha Saptami:
The Sun God travels across the sky on a chariot drawn by seven horses. The legends tell. These seven horses symbolize the seven days of the week. On the seventh day of the chariot, the sun turns its chariot towards the north. With this the morning time increases and relaxation begins.
