[GHHF] Bhajans are conducted regularly in Villages and Temples to create strength, courage and peace of mind.
Global Hindu Heritage Foundation was started to protect Hindu Temples and to preserve and protect Hindu culture. Not only distribution of the importance of preserving Hindu culture, organizing several meetings across the States, we strongly believe that every Temple should conduct Bhajans glorifying the Gods and Goddesses. It is decided that all the Hindus should be brought back to the Temples. One way of bringing them to the Temple is to conduct Bhajans in the Temples.
Bhajans play an important role in Sanatana Dharma. Bhajans are sung to show our gratitude and love for God. Singing or listening to devotional songs removes all negativity in one’s mind and fills one’s heart with joy, peace, and contentment. It elevates one’s mood and creates inner equilibrium. There is a lot of difference in the feeling when you sing for yourself and when you sing for God. When a devotional song is played or sung, it cleanses the atmosphere and fills the place with positive energy.
Bhajan is a Sanskrit word, the meaning is “to serve, honor, revere, love, and adore.” The Sanskrit word bhajan or bhajana is derived from the root bhaj, which means "divide, share, partake, participate, to belong to". The word also connotes "attachment, devotion to, fondness for, homage, faith or love, worship, piety to something as a spiritual, religious principle or means of salvation".
A Bhajan is any type of Hindu devotional song. It is very necessary to melt the heart of God. When you do Nagar Sankirtan early in the morning, everybody will get up and listen to the Divine Name. Hearing the name of God as soon as they wake up will fill them with great bliss and enthusiasm. Constantly remember the name of God; never forget it. This is the noblest path. This is true spiritual practice. When you do this, you will be immensely blessed. --- Sathya Sai Baba
Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji is famous for his Divya Namasankeertana or singing of the divine names. He sings the bhajans he composes himself by using the synthesizer known as Modern Veena with the support of outstanding musicians playing classical Indian instruments. Sri Swamiji sings very powerfully, soulfully, devotionally, enthusiastically, with gusto. He explains the meaning of these bhajans in a vivid, realistic, and humorous manner to convey the essence of the song to touch the hearts of the devotees.
God and his name are identical and inseparable. He dwells where his name is sung. The whole atmosphere is sanctified by his name – peace, purity and bliss prevail there. His name carries the message of love. His name frees the soul from affliction, unrest and bondage. His name knows no barriers, no distinctions. His name purifies the vicious lower self and elevates it to sublimity, to universal consciousness and transcendent Godhead.
Bhajana is meditation on God. Life without bhajana of some sort is useless, my dear friends. Life without worship is dull, dreary. It is a mere burden on this earth. All religionists do their own bhajana in their own way. The goal is the same; the paths are different. The object of doing worship is to attain infinite, eternal peace, immortality and freedom from the wheel of birth and death. – Swami Sivananda
When we sing or hear Bhajans, we can absorb positive vibrations. They can aid us in removing negative energies within us and our surroundings. Apart from that, there are other religious and scientific significances associated with singing Bhajans in Hinduism.
Studies are showing that Hindu spiritual music has real health benefits for our minds and bodies. When scientists look at raagas, which are certain patterns of music, they find that this music can help us relax and focus. Music does this by lowering stress hormones in our body and by making our brain chemicals work better to make us feel good.
